BMW Spring Checklist For Maintenance Pt. 2
The importance of a BMW spring checklist is ever present for import car owners. If a BMW sits in the garage all winter, a few things can happen. The car’s battery may die, the tires may go flat, and the engine may seize up. To avoid these problems, it’s important to start the car and let it run for a few minutes every week, and to keep the tires inflated. If you are one of those families who has a winter vehicle, it is imperative you get a spring checkup. There are fun things with BMWs, such as tasty wiring, which could cause issues if not noticed immediately. Don’t fret, and get over to the BMW maintenance experts at LPS Motorwerks this upcoming spring.

Show Some Love to Your BMWs Electrical System
Although we often take it for granted, the electrical system of your vehicle performs many important functions. Not only is it the system responsible for getting your car started in the first place, it also powers many of the essential systems and gauges necessary for you to properly pilot your vehicle. Cold winter temperatures and ice buildup can damage the sensitive electrical components in your BMW and, trust us, this is not an issue you want to have pop up in the dead of summer.
We suggest that you check as many of your BMW’s connections as possible, as well as the spark plugs, hoses, and belts that snake their way through your vehicle. If it has been a while since you replaced your battery, we also suggest that you have it checked to make sure that the cold has not affected its ability to store power.
BMW Blow Fuse
If your car has blown a fuse, you’ll likely notice that something isn’t working properly. For example, your headlights may no longer be working, or your radio may suddenly cut out. If you suspect that a fuse has blown, the first thing to do is check the fuse box under the hood of your car. You’ll see a row of different colored fuses, and each one corresponds to a different system in your car. If you find a fuse that has blown, simply replace it with a new one of the same color and amperage.
Check Your Air Conditioner Now to Avoid Future Problems
Building upon your BMW’s electrical system, spring is the perfect time to make sure that your vehicle’s air conditioner is ready to perform all summer long. To make sure that your air conditioner is ready to go, we suggest that you have the coolant levels checked and replace your vehicle’s air filters.
Additionally for the BMW spring checklist, we suggest that you perform a “test run” of your vehicle’s air conditioner to make sure that no other issues occur that are not directly related to the air filter or coolant levels. Doing this now will help to ensure that no problems crop up once the temperature outside starts to become uncomfortable. Trust us, a little bit of preventative maintenance now is better than having a broken air conditioner while the temperature soars outside.
Repair A Break vs A Replace
Car air conditioners can be expensive to replace, depending on the make and model of the vehicle. The compressor, evaporator, and condenser are the main components that make up the air conditioning system, and they can be costly to repair or replace. If your car’s air conditioner is not working properly, it is best to take it to a mechanic to have it diagnosed and repaired.
