Fiats have managed to make a name for themselves over the years, and by years we mean over 100 years of existence. The company began in 1899 and made their first 24 cars in 1900. They were named the Fiat 4 HP and are far from the sleek little car that dominates European city streets today. In fact, the original Fiat certainly looks more like the Stanley Steamer, or a steam-powered horse buggy, than it does a vehicle. To be sure, they had to start somewhere and the talent of their engineering staff surpassed itself soon and gained the company a robust reputation in a short amount of time.
By 1908, the company had made leaps and bounds and already produced their first truck and started shipping to the U.S. Their vehicles became popular among European taxi drivers and thus Fiat slowly became the widely regarded name it is today. Now, they notably provide both versatile four-door vehicles as well as speedy sports car like models.
